mLinks Skin Object

The mLinks Skin object is a simple clone of the normal Links Skin object included in DNN with a modification that allows it to be used as a second menu skin object.  By marking pages as BOTH hidden AND disabled in the "page settings" area you can move a menu item from the main menu to the mLinks menu.

mLinks ONLY (as is) works in versions 4.4.1 and lower, but supports all of the same properties settings as the normal Links Skin object, such as Level (Same, Child, Root, etc.) and Display (Horizontal or Vertical) and Separator (can be an image).  It can also be "styled" in the same way as normal links are.  Just be sure to set it's class as mLinks in the skin and then use .mLinks in the Skin's style sheet.  The rest of the properties for a normal link can then be set using A.mlinks {} for each state you intend to set a style for in the object.  Font-weight, family, color, background, text-decoration, etc. can all be set like a normal link.

The end result is a wonderfully flexible and additional menu skin object.  No, it doesn't support second level menu items.  Hope you enjoy it. The 'url' to use in registering it at the top of your skin is " /DesktopModules/mLinks/mLinks.ascx "

* Note:  For DNN version 4.5 and above make the following adustment to mLinks due to the new behavior of "Disabled" pages redirecting to the Home page.

Access the mLinks.ascx.vb file in the .zip folder.  Locate the following string " objTab.IsVisible = False AND objTab.DisableLink = True " and change it to this.  objTab.IsVisible = False AND objTab.DisableLink = False    Be sure to reset the affected pages in your portal to only "Hidden" and not both "Hidden" and "Disabled."    The effect is much the same as in the original scenario.  The difference now being that to "hide" a page it must be marked hidden AND disabled.
